Kra Dum Thong

Kra Dum Thong, Gradumtung or Kradumtung, means golden button. This is an early season durian, that bears 2-4 kg fruits. The flesh is soft, creamy, buttery sweet and custard, sometimes having a kick almost cheesy. It is lighter than other zibethinus Durian - we feel it has lower fat content.

The thorns and the color of flesh is what made this lowianus special for us. There is a line of tiny thorns on both sides of the sections making the durian look like it had zippers. The color of the flesh is golden yellow and its smooth creamy consistency is seducing.

We love those hybrids that combine the good aspects of their origins. This one is a huge round shaped durian that can grow up to 7 kg and the taste is dominated by the lowianus. The taste is nutty, with a bit alcoholic, fruitiness. The color is golden yellow and the consistency is smooth creamy. The flesh to seed ratio is very good.
